The Graduate Student Research Office is primarily concerned with the production and publication of graduate students’ thesis or dissertation. Anchored on the College of Graduate Studies and Teacher Education Research (CGSTER) primary aim of advancing research in education, GRESO provides research capability programs to enhance graduate students’ competencies and ensures that graduate students’ research outputs are aligned with the University’s research agenda.
A. Overview of the Office
The Graduate Research Office facilitates the conduct of the title defense, colloquium, and oral defense in cooperation with the CGSTER Dean’s office. The office functions as the coordinating unit in the production and quality assurance of student research outputs, through the following processes:
- conduct of concept and proposal presentations;
- endorse thesis or dissertation advisers to the CGSTER Dean;
- ensure that the research topics are aligned with the University’s agenda;
- coordinate between the assigned adviser and the graduate students;
- subject graduate students’ outputs to authenticity tests; and
- endorse graduate students’ research for review to the Ethics committee.
In addition, the office is in charge of providing research capability programs for graduate students in terms of specialized topics in thesis/dissertation writing focusing on methods, trends and issues in education, and publication. Lastly, the office provides graduate students with opportunities to present their research outputs in local and international conferences.
B. Vision
GRESO shares CGSTER’s vision of advancing research by foster rigorous inquiry about educational theories and practices as bases for generating knowledge and sound policies, and improving professional practice. The GRESO envisions producing quality graduate student research outputs that passed the ethical standards of the University.
C. Mission
As an integral arm of CGSTER, the GRESO maintains its role to intensify competence in educational research through research capability building programs and activities. It aims to promote the products of the graduate students of the University by encouraging students to present and contribute in national and local fora.

Dr. David is the Director of the Graduate Research Office in the Philippine Normal University (PNU). Prior to his current position, he served as the Associate Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Teacher Education (2015-2017) in the College of Graduate Studies and Teacher Education Research in PNU. As an educator who have advanced training in counseling (Master of Arts in Guidance and Counseling) and educational psychology (PhD in Educational Psychology), he is actively involved in educational research projects encompassing a broad range of research themes within counseling, educational assessment, educational psychology, and teacher education. As part of his career as an educator, he have published a number of empirical research papers on counseling, educational assessment, educational psychology, and teacher education in international and national refereed journals. Since 2014, he is the Editor-in-Chief of the Educational Measurement and Evaluation Review (EMER), the official refereed journal of the Philippine Educational Measurement and Evaluation Association (PEMEA).

Joyce is currently a Technical Assistant of Graduate Research Office, Her primarily task is Assist the GRESO Director in the Management and Supervision of the Graduate Research Laboratory; Coordinates all activities under the Research Capability Building Program of GResO; Prepares technical reports, accomplishment reports, and other reports of programs and services of GResO; Design and monitor database of graduate students in Thesis/Dissertation Writing; Perform Anti-Plagiarism Testing of Thesis/Dissertation; Represents the GResO Director in meetings and other related activities whenever necessary.
